Hi, I'm Chiara
I'm a project manager and a parent. An expat based in Bologna, Italy.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It All Began
Moving to Italy wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet over time, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created HorizonWaveWell
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.
